The Hon. Warren W. Eginton Justice Institute is a FREE 5-day summer camp for current 10th and 11th graders.

The Justice Institute was held in Hartford at the Ribicoff Courthouse July 13-17, 2026.

The camp introduced high school students to the federal court and prepared students to compete in mock trial competitions. Students from schools across Connecticut participated in instructional panels about civil and criminal litigation, public speaking, and professionalism; visited a United States Marshals Service cell block; observed real court proceedings; met probation officers; and visited with a police K-9 unit and the Connecticut bomb squad. Students also met and learned from several lawyers as well as state and federal judges while preparing for their mock trials, coached by law students participating in the court’s summer internship program. The week concluded with mock trial competitions where the students applied the skills they learned throughout the week.

Registration for 2027 will open in early 2027
